Katie Brown

The textile industry has deep roots in Northern Ireland, and in fact Belfast was the global centre for linen production in the years leading up to the Great War. By 1921 there were 70,000 people working in mills across the country. But unbeknownst to Katie Brown, her great grandfather was screen-printing linen in the 1940s. This may have been a coincidence, but it suggests that Katie’s passion for hand-finished and hand-printed textiles also has deep roots.
